Kaspersky Lab says may sue Dutch govt for banning software use
ZURICH, Nov 13 (PRIME) -- Russian anti-virus software maker Kaspersky Lab is considering filing a lawsuit within two months against the Dutch government for its refusal to use the company’s products, Vice President for government relations Anton Shingarev told reporters on Tuesday.
“I think we’ll go to a Dutch court, because there was a weird decision in the Netherlands. They publicly admitted that they had not studied our product technically. In our view, they stood on theoretical conclusions when making such serious steps as banning an independent product for sale to the government. There should be some rules, checks, if they come, investigate, and find something, there would be a reason at least,” Shingarev said.
“On the contrary, we wrote to them ourselves and offered to provide them with a source code and explain how everything works. They said no and then decided to forbid us.”
The lawsuit can be filed within two months. “There are procedural limits. We won’t be able to do it in a year or a year and a half,” he said.
